Who are we?
We are a registered charity (No. 266754) and we exist to promote the interests of you, the user of the South West Coast Path. Amongst other things, we do this by lobbying the numerous bodies which are responsible for the path in order to see it is maintained to a high standard. There are several places where we are actively seeking the path to be re-aligned so that it can be genuinely called a coast path.
We are also the preeminent body for helping you plan your walk and get the best from what we believe is the finest of the National Trails.
Our mission statement is:
To work with others to secure the ongoing completion and improvement of the South West Coast Path and ensure, where possible, that the footpath is aligned on the coast. This work will be for the benefit of all users of the coast path.
We aim to educate and inform all users of the Coast Path by working in partnership to help with the promotion of the social, economic, environmental and cultural benefits offered by the path and the coastal corridor.
Membership Benefits
By becoming a member you join over 4,000 other walkers in supporting the work of the Association. This increases our ability to represent you through the work of the many groups who operate in partnership to run the path. See our joining page for application forms and current subscription rates.Association Publications
To get the very best out of walking the South West Coast Path, we recommend that you use our latest Annual Guide so that you can be sure of the most up to date information at your fingertips. The path descriptions within the Guide are continually updated by our volunteer area representatives and take into account new diversions and alterations to the National Trail. Using an old book can prove misleading. Things change every year such as tide tables, ferry services, accommodation details and chunks of cliff and path fall off. All of our publications are available to members and non-members alike.
Annual General Meeting
We hold an AGM each year, usually on the third weekend of April. The location is moved around the South West so that all members in the area get a chance to attend--though attendance by members from everywhere is most welcome!
After the formal business we arrange for a talk to be given by someone connected with the path. Previous speakers have included members of the management team, wildlife groups and local authorities.
