Bessy's Cove is part of a larger region known as Prussia Cove. This acquired it's name after John Carter who was a notorious smuggler and became known as the King of Prussia.

Bessy's Cove was named after Bessy Bussow, who had a house up on the cliff where she ran a `kiddlywink' selling alcohol on which no duty had been paid.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
