Burgh Island can be reached on foot only at low tide. When the tide is in it is ``connected'' to the mainland by means of the sea tractor.

On the island stands Burgh Island Hotel, described by The Good Hotel Guide (1998) as a lovingly restored Art Deco extravaganza, a ``fantasy world of the 1920's''. It has had several famous visitors including Edward, Prince of Wales and Mrs Wallace Simpson and Agatha Christie who based two novels on the Island. The hotel has a palm court, glass sun lounge and dinner is served in the 1920's ballroom.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
