Cape Cornwall West Penwith
photo

Cape Cornwall is England's only cape and was given to the National Trust in 1987 by H. J. Heinz. It was once thought to be the most westerly point in England--probably until the first Ordnance Surveys were undertaken at the beginning of the ninetenth century. It is the only headland designated a Cape in England and Wales.

This photograph was taken from Kenidjack Cliff Castle looking across Porth Ledden. In the distance lies The Brisons.

From the Cape it is 1.5 miles (3Km) inland to the old mining town of St Just--well worth a visit. It has shops, several excellent pubs and a church.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
