Church Ope Cove Dorset
photo

The Cove gets its name from the "opening" high up in the cliff where the 12th century St. Andrew's church stands. In 1753 the position of the church was considered to dangerous and a newer church constructed further inland. It is the only point on the Island walk where you can get down to the sea.

To the north stands Rufus Castle, built by William II.

Out to sea you get fines views over to the chalk cliffs at Lulworth and beyond.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
