Lulworth Cove Lulworth

Lulworth Cove has a near perfect elliptical shape which can only really be appreciated from the air. The narrow entrance makes it a perfect safe anchorage for small boats which use the Cove today.

For the east-bound walker Lulworth Cove is the start of a six-mile (9Km) section through the Army Ranges which starts at Fossil Forest Gate. If the range walks are closed (often the case during the week) a 12-mile detour along roads must be taken.

Just after entering the Ranges at Lulworth, a path leads down to the shore where the remains of fossilised tree trunks up to 200 million years old can be seen.
