Handfast Point Dorset
photo

Handfast Point, or The Foreland is where the chalk cliffs of The Needles of the Isle of Wight once extended to the mainland. Millions of years ago the sea broke through the cliffs and formed the Solent and Isle of Wight we see today.

From Handfast Point you can see The Needles on a clear day, as well as the wide sweep of Poole Bay and Bournemouth.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
