Pendeen Watch West Penwith
photo

At Pendeen Watch a lighthouse was erected in 1900 because shipping often could not see the light at Trevose to the north, or Longships at Land's End. Most of the original equipment is still in use and can be viewed.

Inland is the village of Pendeen, founded on the fortunes of the nearby tin mines of Geevor, Levant and Botallack. Shops, accommodation and pubs are all available.

As the photograph shows, this is mining country.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
