Rocky Valley Cornwall
photo

In the steep-sided Rocky Valley you should keep a look-out for strange shapes carved on the rock face which are from the bronze age.

A mile further on and you reach Bossiney. Before the 1832 Reform Act many parliamentary constituencies, called `rotten boroughs', were corrupt in that land owners controlled the electors and the member of parliament. Tintagel and Bossiney returned 2 members of Parliament even though there were only 25 voters, 9 from the same family. This particular rotten borough was something of a Cause Celebre and no doubt contributed to the passing of the Reform Act.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
