Lulworth Lulworth
photo

Stair Hole is a classic text-book example of landscape formation. The layers of twisted strata are laid bare and the distinctive shaping of the layers is known as the Lulworth Crumple.

It is likely that Stair Hole today looks like Lulworth Cove did millions of years before the sea eroded out the present cove to the base of the chalk cliffs.

A CDROM version of the PhotoTour with over 540 high-quality photos of larger size is available from the Association's shop.
