Watergate Bay is the start of a series of magnificent beaches which has made Newquay, which lies to the south, the surfing capital of Europe. Watergate Bay itself is 3 miles long. The photograph was taken from the northern end looking south.

About one-third of the way down the bay lies the Watergate Bay Hotel which affords wonderful views over the sea.
