At Western Mouth a steep descent into the valley is required (and its just as steep up the other side!). From the shingle beach take a look at the colours of the rocks which forms the cliffs and note the golden colour of the top-most layer. This is the same as found further east at Golden Cap.

Note the stricken vessel out in the bay. This is the MV Napoli which was ran aground in January 2007 spilling its cargo of containers onto Branscombe beach and brought the incident to national attention.
